Darren Forgy has been with Prairie Engineers since 2011 and manages the firm's land surveying practice. He is a licensed professional land surveyor and a licensed professional engineer who has 17 years of experience in consulting engineering. Darren specializes in land and topographical surveying, asset inventory surveys, and GIS development. Additional expertise includes roadway design, sewer design, site development, utility inventories and assessments, planning studies, and construction phase services.
Darren received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is also a graduate of the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale surveying program. Throughout his career, Darren has been active in professional organizations. He was named the Young Engineer of the Year by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE) in 2007 and received the same honor from the Capital Chapter of ISPE in 2006. He has served as president of the Central Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), president of the Sangamon Valley Chapter of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyor's Association (IPLSA), and president of the Capital Chapter of ISPE.
What Darren likes most about the firm he's helped shape, other than the great group of people he works with, is the approach Prairie Engineers has to engineering. He is proud of the innovative culture, can-do attitude, and creativity in methods and solutions that lead to saying "yes" to client requests.
In addition to all the work hours spent with Lisa Kramer, Darren spends his after-hours with her, as well. They're married and live with their two children and their family cat. He enjoys fishing with his son, collecting Cicada shells with his daughter, and dining out too often with Lisa. When he's not doing these things he likes learning about local history and the natural world.
