Prairie Engineers provided land and topographical surveying, engineering design, permitting, construction phase, and land acquisition services for a new water main connection between two service areas in Lincoln, Illinois. This connection included a crossing under the Union Pacific Railroad line between Chicago and St. Louis and consisted of 250 feet of 8-inch ductile iron water main installed via jack and bore with a 16-inch steel casing under active rail lines. This water line crossing design was developed in accordance with AREMA standards and included coordination with the Union Pacific Railroad. Also included in the project was coordination with the Illinois EPA for a Public Water Supply Construction Permit and the acquisition of easements across two parcels adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad.
