Prairie Engineers, under subcontract to J&B Builders, Inc., prepared site construction plans for the renovation of the AGO parking lot at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois for the Illinois National Guard. The focus of the project was to improve and expand the existing parking facilities to meet current demands and incorporate anti-terrorism/force protection measures.
The project involved the design of site improvements, including a reconfigured parking lot, utilities, and a surface drainage facility, that minimized the impact beyond the existing parking lot limits. The parking lot was designed to surface drain to curb cuts where the runoff would enter a turf swale and drain to nearby surface waters. The reconfigured parking lot included new lighting and landscape features to improve the safety and enhance the Camp.
ADA compliant parking spaces, curb ramps, and sidewalks were incorporated to improve pedestrian accessibility to the adjacent buildings and around the Camp. A pedestrian crosswalk was included to improve the pedestrian safety at the Camp.
