The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) was enacted in 1969 and set forth the federal policy requiring preparation of environmental reports on federal actions to evaluate how they would impact the environment. Implementation of NEPA established the development of Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) as the primary means to document these actions. NEPA applies to all federal agencies and federal agency programs, which includes non-federal actions receiving federal funding OR requiring federal permits. Prairie Engineers staff have extensive experience in authoring EAs and EISs, coordinating with state and federal resource agencies during the development of environmental documents, and completion of supporting technical memorandum.
