Prairie Engineers of Illinois prepared site construction plans for a ±9,000 SF distribution facility on an approximately two acre site for Illinois American Water Company. The new facility will provide offices, meeting areas, six garage bays to store vehicles, and material storage areas. This new facility will consolidate the existing operations and replaces their current facilities.
This project involved the design of site improvements, including a parking lot, material storage areas, utilities, and detention facility. Due to the site location along IL Route 121, permitting was required with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for an access permit. This permit also required drainage improvements to reduce the amount of runoff from the completed facility since the runoff entered the storm sewer system located within the IDOT right-of-way. A detention basin was designed in accordance with IDOT and City of Lincoln ordinances to reduce the runoff while minimizing the impact to the overall site.
A sanitary sewer extension was required to serve the new facility which required permitting from the City of Lincoln and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). Domestic water service and fire service lines were installed and connected to the water main located on the site.
Construction staking services were performed to provide the location of the building, utilities, curbing, pavement, and other miscellaneous site improvements.
