Prairie Engineers, P.C. is seeking a Financial Manager to join their team. 

Prairie Engineers is a growing company, looking to add a Financial Professional in their Columbia, IL office to manage fiscal operations and financial record keeping and reporting.  This person will also be responsible for providing financial information and analysis to business officers, and preparing client invoices in conjunction with project managers. This is a full-time position with benefits and a competitive salary based on previous experience.

Prairie Engineers is a full services engineering, geospatial, and environmental science firm with a goal of delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions and maintaining our natural and built environment.  We are a woman-owned firm with offices in Columbia, Hillsboro, Peoria, and Springfield, Illinois; Hazelwood, Missouri; and Keokuk, Iowa.  The firm provides services to federal, state, and local governments, utilities, industries, and private businesses. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain financial and accounting records and reporting and preparing financial statements
  • Developing accounting policies and procedures
  • Coordination with external auditors
  • Research and setup payroll and tax reporting in multiple states
  • Coordination with Accounting firm relative to tax preparation guidance and other matters which may require specific accounting expertise.
  • Preparing State and Federal business tax reporting and payments within filing deadlines
  • Year end and monthly reconciliations and reporting of Key Performance Indicators to management
  • Coordination and assistance with project managers
  • Other duties as assigned for assistance throughout the company

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance
  • A minimum of two years’ bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative experience
  • Ability to use accounting software
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage a heavy workload
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a project team
  • Project a professional, positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a focus on quality and service

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • MBA or CPA
  • Experience with Deltek Ajera software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access
  • Five or more years’ bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
