Darren Forgy has been with Prairie Engineers since 2011 and serves as the Federal Market Lead.  He is a licensed professional land surveyor and a licensed professional engineer with 20+ years of experience in consulting engineering. Darren has significant expertise in the geospatial world including asset inventories and GIS development.  Additional civil engineering expertise includes planning, design, and construction engineering for water and natural resources projects, roadways and sewers, and utilities.

Darren received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is also a graduate of the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale surveying program. Throughout his career, Darren has been active in professional organizations. He was named the Young Engineer of the Year by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE) in 2007 and received the same honor from the Capital Chapter of ISPE in 2006. He has served as president of the Central Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), president of the Sangamon Valley Chapter of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyor's Association (IPLSA), and president of the Capital Chapter of ISPE.  He is currently active in several posts of SAME and serving as the program chair for the Rock Island Post.

What Darren likes most about the firm he's helped shape, other than the great group of people he works with, is the approach Prairie Engineers has to engineering. He is proud of the innovative culture, can-do attitude, and creativity in methods and solutions that lead to saying "yes" to client requests.

In addition to all the work hours spent with Lisa Kramer, Darren spends his after-hours with her, as well. They're married and live with their two children and their family pets (a cat and two dogs). He enjoys fishing with his son, collecting Cicada shells with his daughter, and traveling with Lisa. When he's not doing these things, he likes learning about local history and the natural world.
