Sarah Johnson (Anderson) joined Prairie Engineers with the acquisition of the Hillsboro office in 2018 as a Structural/Civil Engineer. She came to the firm with experience in both the building and bridge sectors of the industry, and has earned both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
As a structural engineer, Sarah’s building sector experience includes design with steel, wood, reinforced concrete, and masonry building systems. Her bridge sector work includes planning and design for steel beam, plate girder, precast concrete girder, and box beam bridges. As a civil engineer, Sarah has provided planning, permitting, and design per municipal codes and IDOT specifications. This work includes sidewalk/ADA curb ramp design, bridge hydraulic studies and permitting, roadway design, and drainage design for site development. Sarah has experience with plan preparation in Microstation, AutoCAD, and Revit, and has utilized several of the industry’s various structural analysis software packages.
With faith and family as her top priorities, Sarah enjoys helping her new husband finish their house and spending time with her brothers and parents on the family’s grain farm.
